Maicro Credential Vault

Terms of Service

Effective date: March 20, 2026 · Last updated: March 20, 2026

Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using Maicro Credential Vault ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

Description of service

Maicro Credential Vault is a local-first credential manager. It encrypts your data on your device using AES-256-GCM with a key derived from your master password via Argon2id. All encryption and decryption occurs entirely on your device. The Software stores your vault in a single encrypted .safe file. Optional cloud sync uses your own Google Drive or Dropbox account — the company does not operate servers that store, process, or transmit your vault data.

No-recovery policy

If you forget your master password, your vault is permanently locked. We cannot recover it. No one can. This is by design.

The Software uses zero-knowledge architecture. Your master password is never transmitted, stored, or known to anyone other than you. There is no password reset, no recovery key, no backdoor, and no support process that can restore access. You accept full responsibility for remembering your master password. Loss of the master password means permanent, total, and irreversible loss of all data stored in the vault. This policy is a fundamental term of this agreement, not a limitation — it is the core security guarantee of the product.

User responsibilities

Intellectual property

The Software, including its code, design, documentation, and branding, is the intellectual property of Maicro and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. Your purchase grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software on your personal devices. You do not acquire ownership of any intellectual property rights in the Software.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Maicro shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of access to your vault. Because the Software operates entirely on your device with zero-knowledge architecture, Maicro has no ability to access, recover, or restore your data. You acknowledge and accept this limitation as an inherent characteristic of the product's security design.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Software is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Maicro does not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of vulnerabilities. You use the Software at your own risk.

Termination

You may stop using the Software at any time. Because the Software is a one-time purchase with no subscription, there is no account to cancel. Your .safe file remains on your device and in your cloud storage. Maicro reserves the right to discontinue the Software or cease providing updates. Discontinuation does not affect your existing license or your ability to continue using the version you have.

Changes to terms

Maicro may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Maicro operates, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
